Exclamation My Wife turned off Video

My wife I think while in Device manager managed to turn off Video. Now when windows boots up every thing boots, welcome screen and loading bar visible, pretty windows welcome tone then nothing. I put a DVD into the Laptop and since its on autoplay you could hear the movie playing but nothing on screen. Same thing with windows menu. Cant go into system restore because I cant see it. Tried regular safe mode and the screen boots up the list and stays there. Tried Last known good config. to no avail. Tried enabling VGA while in F8 with no results. Its a older IBM T23 laptop running windows xp sp1,248 mb of ram, 80 gig hardrive, with cd/dvd rom. I don't know what else to try since I wasn't there when this was done.

Regular Safe Mode takes a few minutes to load. Did you give it a few / several minutes?

You should get an option to sys restore as soon as Safe Mode launches (after a few minutes of startup).

You could also try Safe Mode with Command Prompt. The command for sys restore is:

    System Restore CMD
    --------------------------------------------------
In order to start System Restore from the Task Manager or at a Run... or Command Prompt type:

    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Again you can try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to start the Task Manager and or to login to the built in admin account.

You can try Ctrl+Alt+Delete as XP starts to load > Before the windows wav

You should then be offered to enter the System Admin account.

Attachment 1545Thank you Jephree. My wife is an impatient cuss and I told her it takes awhile to load in safe but she has very little patience when she screwwwwws up. She's hotter than a $2.00 pistol right now.

Well let us know if any of the above works.

When starting safe mode windows lists all your drivers but the list is added to at the bottom so the screen appears to be static.

But it takes sometimes up to 5 minutes to load the drivers in safe mode.

Well by the time I posted this and told her I had the solution, she being impatient did something to give me the BSOD while going into safe mode. She then asked for my IOLO Drivescrubber cd so consider case closed while she erases every damn thing and does a clean reinstall of XP. Sure fun being married. Sorry I had to take up valuable advise on this post. Thanks again Jephree. Didn't mean to be a pain.

No problem. Let us know if we can help further.

Nice pic BTW. No comment on the heat.

I have never been married or even close to it but I can imagine it has its good points as well.
