xp will not boot after new MB install
Hi,
Recently I have installed a new motherboard, processor and ram. I have tried to reinstall XP from the CD rom which works, but on reboot to finish instilation the hard drive does not boot what so ever.
I transferd my hard drive to my old computer and it boots just fine, does anyone know what could be the issue?
thanks ahead of time

Welcome to D-A-L.
Is this hard disk set as the first (or second after CDROM) boot device in the machines bios?

Sorry, I must have "read right over this" the first time. If XP still boots in the old machine, this indicates that the "new" installation was "attempted/accomplished" on a different partition.
An XP installation won't boot on a different machine as the HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) is different for the hardware. The HAL is checked at every bootup.
Is the hard disk "recognized" properly in the "new" machine? (Bios parameters.)
