    Post Toshiba SP 6100 keep crashing

    hi i have a Toshiba SP 6100
    Pentium 4 Mobile 1700Mhz (Mobile Plataform)
    512 RAM
    40 GB
    DvD
    Wirelless
    Card Reader.
    but when i try to power it up with or with out the battery some time it will not come on and some time it will come on but the it will crash just after bios. i have a dead cmos battery in it and i get a error saying bad check sum.
    i have tryed to replace the thermal paste on cpu and gpu but it stil the same.
    do any body no what can stop it from starting and then start and crash???

    Have you replaced this battery?

    i read some wear that the laptop will still work ok with out it you just not have the right time

    What options do you get with the check sum error?

    You need to at least address it. Set the BIOS defaults etc. A lot more here than the correct time.

    Replacing the battery would be a good idea.

    it just say push f1 and reset to default ,f1 get you to bios i done this lots of time but still the same so i think replaceing the battery a good idea. but were can i get a 3v cmos battery?

    Almost any hardware store or camera shop or electronics outlet etc.

    Just take the old one in and get a match.
