Realtec AC'97 problems
Hi, I am using an emachines M6811 with xp home operating system. I did a complete system restore with the M6811 disc. Everything was working fine. I turned off the laptop went to bed... Up the next morning, turn it on and I have no sound. when I go to the control panel and access the sound and audio device properties, all of the options are greyed out (unaccesable). I checked the device mngr. and it says all of my drivers are good and the device is working properly. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can regain the sounds and audio for my laptop?
Thanks

Welcome to D-A-L.
First thing to try is remove the device(s) in Device Manager and restart. This should invoke the "Hardware Wizard" from the HAL and detect the hardware. Resources and drivers should then be reassigned. (This assumes the devices (if onboard) are enabled in the machines bios. If DM reports them, they should be.)
