    Icon View won't stick!

Every time I open Control Panel the view is set to the "list" view. I prefer the "Icon" view and so reset it to this and resize the box and set the postition on the screen. This remains OK all the time I do not reboot the PC. When I open Control Panel after a reboot the view has returned to "list" , the box has resized and the position has moved (always the same size and position). Any ideas?

    First try:

    1. When you have a folder set to "icon view," the way you like it, click Folder
Options/ View/ Folder views/ Apply to All Folders.

    If no good try:

    2. There's a downloadable tweak at line 2, left, "increase folder view
size limit to 8000". (There is a folder number point beyond which the
registry can't remember view settings; this increases it.)

    Good thoughts but:

    1. I don't want all my views to be Icon (particularly documents where I much prefer list or details) and

    2. The window size for control panel is less than one quarter of the screen just to accommodate the icons and should not be above the figure XP can hold in its reg.

I seem to think that this problem has only just appeared - but it wont' go away!
