    Automatic Updates No Longer Working

    Hi,

Have recently had to have a new mother board & processor installed & since this has been done automatic updates no longer work.

They download no problem but when you try & install they all fail - currently 78 of them!

I am using XP SP2 (genuine) & this wasn't reinstalled when the new hardware was fitted

Any help would be most appreciated

    Thanks

It may well be that as you have changed the MB & processor, that windows will not be recognised as genuine until it has been re activated,

This is because it looks at various parts of the computer and assigns a particular number for the installation.

If certain thing are changed the number will change, and will have to be reactivated..
If you can't get it to reactivate over the internet, phone them and they will give you a number to enter , which will reactivate it.

You must reinstall XP on a new motherboard.

A repair install might work but a clean install is recommended.
