    Another image viewing problem.

    Windows XP SP2 - Ad-aware 2007, BT – Yahoo mail.

    Hi folks
I have persistently had problems viewing images in some e-mails received. Also a friend has told me that images I’ve supposedly sent in messages are missing.
I searched this site in attempt not to repeat a query and found several remedies, mostly for Outlook & Outlook Express. I did find one which I thought might solve the problem here but would appreciate advice whether this could solve the problem: -

Why can't I see any images in my messages?
Some imagine programs corrupt these entries.
You can check your registry settings for image file types:
Go to Start | Run and type regedit and look at this key:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif
On the right you should see
(Default) "giffile" my setting - OISgiffile
    Content Type "image/gif" my setting - image/gif

    for jpg it should be
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg
(Default) "jpegfile" my setting - OISjpegfile
    Content Type "image/jpeg" my setting – image/jpeg

    for bmp it should be
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.bmp
(Default) "bmpfile" my setting - (value not set)
    Content Type "image/bmp" my setting – image/x-bmp

Read the help file in regedit if you haven't used it before

I am reluctant to change any settings without some further guidance. I did however check another area: - Tools, Internet options, Advanced, Multimedia, to ensure the Show pictures box was ticked.

I know it’s an old chestnut but with limited knowledge I would appreciate your patience

    Thank you
