changing the motherboard battery
Hi, I need to change the motherboard battery but I do not know how to update the BIOS after I install the new battery. I would probably need set by step directions if it's not too much trouble. Any help would be well appreciated. Thank you.

There is no need to update the BIOS.
Changing the battery will merely reset the BIOS default settings.

Thanks jephree, thats is very good news. I have one quick question for you please. I did a Bios update about 6 months ago. When you say it resets to default settings will it reset at the update or will I lose it and have to update again. Thank you.

It has no affect on the installed BIOS version.
You will have to set the time and date.
If you made any "custom" settings in the BIOS then you will need to set them again.
The BIOS will simply be set to default settings.

Thanks again for getting back to me. What I should have asked you is how do I set the time and date. Is it a hard thing to do. I should have asked you that in the first place. I'm sorry for being so stupid. I have never entered the Bios. Hope you can help. Thank you.

It depends on the BIOS.
Most say on the bottom of the screen when you first start:
"Press Delete to enter Setup" for example.
Delete is the most common. Others use F2; some F1; some Esc; some F10 etc.
Then "Time & Date" should be under the "General" heading.
You navigate this section with your arrow keys and the Enter key.

Thanks jephree for all your help, it should work out just fine. Very nice of you to take the time to explain things.

No problem. Let us know how it goes or if we can help further.
