Hi can anyone help.

I have XP
When I start my pc...the modem flashes red only on the left hand side... nothing comes up on the monitor.
I have to pull flug from the wall and start it again...this happens about 3 times, before it bleeps and starts.
Any advise

ok, first off... what is the make and model of your pc? (or motherboard if it is custom built)

and also, what are the bleeps like? (i.e 1 short 1 long.... or 2 short... or 1 short....)

Have you recently installed new hardware/software

When you turn your computer on, when the modem goes red and nothing appears on the monitor, are the fans still running inside the PC? and will the CD drive open?

My PC is xp 2000 mercury romeo....one short bleep...no I have not installed new hardware....yes the fans are still running when the moderm is flashing red...yes the cd drive opens.

Have you noticed the clock going out of time recently?? cos a flat cmos/pram battery can cause boot up problems

My clock seems to be working ok...it started up first time today...but yesterday it took 3 times ...very anoying.
