Help!!! Please
Packard Bell IXTREME Gold MC 2104 with pre-installed Windows XP Media edition had a virus which is now removed. Have lost the ability to do a Windows system restore.
Because the system came pre-loaded with the operating system how would I do a Windows repair instalation as if I booted from the CD?
Or is there something else I should be trying?

I'm not sure but if you can boot from the C D it may take the machine back to the factory setting.

is the operating and software on a recovery partiton?

I Dont have a windows CD for this machine, the software was pre-installed, I can do a restore to std. factory settings, I really just wanted to do a CD type windows repair instalation, which I believe is an option if you boot from the XP disk.

I doubt you will be able to use that function without a windows CD and your version will be tailored to your machine.

Thanks Mate looks like a total rebuild then. Al leave it for a bit and see if any other ideas pop up.
