i have been struggling with explorer.exe problems for months now, on bootup i would lose the desk top and have to start explorer.exe in task manager then every time i clicked on a desk top icon ,bang gone again, i went through a very lengthy process on the spyware section and found nothing , searched the web found lots of explorer.exe problems but no cure .internet explorer would hang and i would have to stop it with task manager and restart explorer.exe again to regain my desktop, i put off a reinstall for ages then i decided to uninstall IE7 and went back to IE6 and my pc has been running sweet ever since (about two weeks now)

has anybody elese had a similar problem with explorer.exe. because somehow internet explorer 7 was creating me a whole lot of trouble with explorer . exe

Just an opinion here....

It seems as though IE7 works OK on some machines, and not others. It's (I consider it to be anyway) still fairly new for MS, and all the bugs aren't worked out yet. It was really designed/compiled for Vista, then made backwards compatable, if you could call it that. ;>)

I ran it for maybe a week about a year (or so) ago, then went right back to IE6. It seems to consume a lot of machine. (I've never had a super machine. My last was an 866 MHZ.) This was, if I recall correctly, when it wasn't uninstallable. I had to reinstall XP to be fully rid of it. I visit a number of help forums and from what I've read, it's a 50/50 shot to get it to work correctly without mucking up some machines. I have seen/read about others with your same problem.

thanks for the response it really had me baffled it was the most annoying thing i have ever come across we spent days and days on the malware section, then everyone kept advising me to reinstall but its fine now my pc is fine
