Hey guys,

Just wondering reasons why XP wouldn't be able to detect a hard drive when installing?

There is DEFINATELY a hard drive there, and when i insert a Linux Live CD, it detects it there - but XP doesn't.....

Any obvious explanations?

Probably a SATA drive.

You need the motherboard SATA drivers.

Hit F6 during install when you see the prompt to load drivers.

The drivers should be on a floppy disk which you then insert when prompted.

XP cannot natively detect SATA drives as they did not exist when it was developed. Hence the need to show it the drivers.
