    Talking lEXPLORE.EXE - Application Error

Closing Internet Explorer, Whether I'm connected to ethernet modem or not I get this error message. The instruction at "0x01bf2bf2" referenced memory at "0xo1e4e828". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. This is a Windows Sp1 XP operating system on a Panasonic CF-48 Toughbook, 1.8ghz, 512mb ram, 60 gig HD, running Norton Protection Center with No Viruses Detected showing a green Secure checkmark. Any Help on this would be appreciated.

    For starters:

Go to Windows Update and install SP2 and all Critical Updates.

    This will include IE 7.

Thanks for the quick reply Jephree. Is it going to cost me to upgrade to SP2?

No. Just use Windows Update via All Programs.

It is a large download so it might cost you some time depending on your ISP connection.

Routers are nice too. Then you could run both at once! And Network the two as well.

I know I said I'd get back with you tommorrow but the updates installed quickly. I'm on the laptop now and after installing updates and closing Internet Explorer I still received the same error message when logging off so upgrading to SP 2 didn't rectify the problem. What should I try next?

    Go to start > Run...

    Type: winver

    What is the version listed?

Also go to IE Help > About Internet Explorer

    What is the version listed?

You do not have SP2. In fact SP1 is not even showing.

What is listed in Windows Update for you?

Anyway your issue is resolved with SP2 and also IE7.
