    Programs pin to start menu

    Hi
This is more of a nuisance than a problem!
Every time I open a program it pins itself to the start menu.
ie above the start button on left of screen.
Eventually I get a message saying its full up and I have to remove entries manually.
It doesn't matter what limit I put on the list the programs just keep on adding themselves.

Also if I go into "help and support" I get a message saying a system service is not running and to try "help and support"---not very helpful!.

    Can anybody help please?

Have you tried the limit = 0 ?

For Help and Support see this link:

Why doesn't Help and Support work?

    Thanks Jephree
I did as you suggested and changed to "0", this worked. I tried with "4" ,that worked as well. So somehow it's cured.
but for some reason my programs are now listed in one column not three as before and I have to scroll down to see them.Is nothing straightforward in computers?
Followed the link you gave about "help" no success so far but I'll keep trying
    Thanks again

Did you try this fix for H&S:

    http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/fixwinxphelp.vbs

    As to the columns:

Right click start them click Properties > Customize > Advanced

    Uncheck: Scroll Programs.
