Hi when I connect the laptop to the sb5100 it works fine

I have plugged the laptop into the router using cat lead nothing can log into the modem wireless

Could it be the mdem and router do not work together?

Is there a way round it?

    Cheers Chris

connect the modem to the router and use an ethernet cable to connect the PC to the router.

you may not be able to use the USB and ethernet on the modem at the same time.

    have a look here

Is the router itself connected to the internet, you will be able to connect wirelessly to the router, ie icon in sys tray, but if the router hasn't connected to the net then you will get no net.

type 192.168.1.1 this should take you to the router settings page, then make sure your username and password are correct and click connect if not already connected.

    Hi

The Virgin sb5100 is the modem
    and
The router is the BR-6004 W-G1
    Dynamode

I have been told it is the modem not allowing the router access to the net but have no idea how to address it, I can log into the router no problem and have carried out a wireless ping test with positive results

So I need to know how to @ were to alter the modem settings? no point ringing virgin some guy reading a stardard answer sheet isnt going 2 be any help

If you could inlighten me that would be great! ;-)

you only have one connection to the modem either USB or Ethernet not both

power off the modem and reboot it may reset it
