    viamraid.sys BSOD

    Ok here goes,

Wife calls me at work today, says computer is broken, fix it. She tells me she just tried to close an internet page, and it wouldn't do anything, couldn't ctrl+alt+del anything so turned it off and turned it back on and got BSOD.

    Error message is as follows:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X00000030,0X00000006,0X763E9A0)
    viamraid.sys - ADDRESS F763E9A0 base at F7634000, DateStamp 4063e304

So i try booting normal, BSOD
Try booting last known good configuration, BSOD
Try booting Safe Mode with command prompt, BSOD
    Try booting Safe Mode, BSOD

All safe modes seen to stop at mup.sys
Wont boot at all. The closest it comes is normal mode when windows XP loading screen runs for about 3 seconds and BSOD

Next i try booting from Windows XP install disk to do a repair, load the SATA drivers, everything running fine until it goes to repair.. BSOD

Next step, reinstall windows, same thing as repair, except goes to BSOD when it starts to install

EVerywhere i have looked, solultions revolved around getting in in safe mode and disabling some for of bad driver, but cant without getting into safe mode, what else is there to try?

    Computer specs:

    Athlon XP 2800 D
    1GB DDR PC3200
Mobo: MSI KTV6-LSR VIA KT600 DDR
    Video Card: Radeon 9600XT 256mb
    SOund Audigy 2
    Windows XP SP2

Any help woiuld be greatly appreciated, would really rather not have to slick this hard drive, its only about 6 months old and i was very naughty and havent backed it up.

Thanks in advance for any help, last time i had issues you guys were a lifesaver, im counting on it again

    Most likely hardware.

    Try running MemTest

Also does the board have IDE/ATA ports and if so do you have an IDE/ATA hard drive you could try to install on?

You can also get the manufacturers diagnostic to run on the hard drive.

You could also try to boot Knoppix to check out the drive.
