Second attempt at posting this.

Am using WinXP Pro. When I try to do certain things the computer
informs me that I do not have Administrator Privileges. Right now I am
trying to re-install a program from a disk I purchased for an HP
Scanner. I've installed this program before with no problem.

There are also other instances that this happens. I am the HP
Administrator and the owner. How could I NOT be the administrator ?

What is the verbatim error message?

This could be a Virus.

Are you using the built-in Admin account or a second Admin account?

You can see this by > start > Run... > control userpasswords2

Thanks for the response Jephree.
The *Control* worked and I now have admin privileges.
Evidently HP_Administrator did not have full privileges; which
is what I had been using.

Glad to help.

Just to verify: If you had messages such as: "The Administrator has Disabled this function" and you had not done so yourself this is a fairly common Virus symptom.
