Windows Re-install problems
Hi,
My PC was really messed up and yesterday I re-installed Windows (XP Home Edition). What I didnt know was that this would totally delete all my documents, programs, pictures, personal files etc. Two questions:
1) Is there ANYTHING i can do do get all these lost files back?
2) The screen resolution is stuck on 640X800 and i cannot change it. Whats happening here?
thanks all!!

2) You need to reinstall your graphics card drivers.
1) Programs need to be reinstalled.
1a) If your data is vital STOP using the computer and remove the hard drive.
There are possible recovery options for your personal files but the more you use the computer the more they are written over.
The next process would be to "slave" this drive in another working computer in order to attempt to extract the data.
There are also Programs as well as Professional services that will do this for you but they tend to be very expensive.
Bottom line is what is the data worth to you.

Most "Free Trial" software will tell you if files are found but will not go any further until you buy it.
You must understand that you have re-formatted your hard drive so data recovery, although not impossible, will be rather difficult.
Again if you are going to do this then you should not be using that hard drive.
Here is a quick Google for some programs:

You will need to slave this hard drive in another computer and you will need to buy some software and hope.
