    The HP part number is 5187-1941.
    Where are you? US? If so Newegg is as good as it gets.

    Just make sure it is IDE/ATA rather than SATA unless you have a spare SATA port. Model or manufacturer does not matter.

    Is "LITEON" a good brand to go with.
    That's what my dvd burner is, and it seems to be doin ok as of ruight now.

    Yes it is a good brand. I just installed a couple last week.

    If you buy from Newegg note first the connection type: IDE or SATA

    And also they have the boxed version with Nero (Retail) or just the drive itself (OEM).
