x has encountered a problem and needs to close"

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

after rebooting all is well, after 10 minutes or so any new aps opened will not start, grey dialog "x has encountered a problem and needs to close" appears, followed by "drwatson postmortem debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close." aps previously opened can still be used normally.

could this possibly be overheating issue? machine is only a few months old though.
Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.

Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:

Basic information on Event Viewer errors can be found here: EventID.Net

Thanks very much. Whatever application fails, the faulting module is always kernel32.dll, and the fault address always 0x00083f9c, is this significant?

Faulting application drwtsn32.exe, version 5.1.2600.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.3119, fault address 0x00083f9c.

occasionally the event is "blank" as here:

Faulting application zclientm.exe, version 1.2.626.1, faulting module , version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

but it always follows one of these 2 patterns.

I see four very "shaky" programs if indeed this is a software issue:

    1) zclientm.exe (Microsoft Gaming Zone)

    2) UltimateBet

    3) BitTorrent

    4) AOL

The Kernel error simply indicates that some process is tripping the OS kernel.

If need be we can try to track the fault address 0x00083f9c.

This however is a very tedious process.

My first suggestion would be to eliminate the above 4 programs if possible and see what changes occur.

    Try turning off Dr. Watson:

As noted you can always turn it back on.

well one of these seems to have done it. i think i noticed it not happening BEFORE disabling drwatson, yet after uninstalling the 3 progs above and rebooting it was still occurring. bit strange. i reinstalled ultimatebet so don't believe that was it. still monitoring.

Yes, no incidents since then. I have reinstalled aim so my best guess is that bittorrent or it's companion bittorrent dna was causing it. the help is much appreciated, great board.
