Are you saying the Boot Menu does not show the option of booting the CD drive prior to the hard drive?

For some reason your hard drive is not being detected as per that error.

Set the CD drive to boot prior to the hard drive then boot your XP CD.

See if the XP CD can detect the hard drive.

    ...................Also:

Is this a new problem? Any previous problems? Are you familiar with working inside the case?

Do you have multiple hard drives?

the Boot Menu does show the option of booting the CD drive prior to hard drive.
I Set the CD drive to boot prior to the hard drive then booted to the XP CD.

and i still got the same error. the hard drive is not being detected....yes this is a new problem and haven't had any previous problems.

I only have 1 hard drive.

I am familiar with working inside of the case if you have any ideas....

    thanks for help

Is the drive SATA or IDE?

The first thing I would do is remove both the data and power cables from the hard drive and the data cable from the motherboard as well.

    Then reinsert the connections.

If this fails try moving the data cable from the DVD/CD drive to the hard drive.

Also try to note if the hard drive appears to get power. Spins up etc. Or does it appear lifeless?

Anyway those would be my first steps.
