BSOD --> win32k.sys
Hello everyone
I recently came across this BSOD:
win32k.sys
I have not made any major changes to my laptop
specs:
Intel Pentium M Processor 750 (1.86GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Windows xp home SP2 installed
1GB ram
I am not able to get into windows or safe mode..to run the diagnostic utilities provided by jephree.
Any help will be appreciated
Thank you

Boot your XP CD and choose the first R for Recovery Console.
Verify your XP then enter your password. Hit Enter if you have set no password.
Once in the Recovery Console try the command:
FIXBOOT

Hello
To continue with FIXMBR i'm taking the risk of damaging the partition table, will that cause me to loose all my data?
if yes, then I will backup my hdd and then try this method
any other suggestions?
Thank you

If your data is valuable then yes I'd back it up although it should not be damaged.
My next suggestion would be a Repair Install.
Again you would probably want to backup the drive although the data should not be damaged.
What is the make and model of the laptop? Some brands have different repair and recovery options.

I will definately backup my data before attempting the suggestions you've provided
I have a Dell Inspiron 630m

Thank you for the links
but got no luck
I haven't completed the second like, but I will hopefully by tom.
After I backup my files, I will try "FIXMBR" to see if that helps. Either way I'll leave a message over here.
Thank you for your help!

Hello
K I have successfully backed up my files, using a hard drive enclosure
and after I finished backing up my impt. files, I did a scan with NortonAV, and it picked up approx. 17 Trojans!! wow!
any ways after I put the hard drive back into the laptop and booted it up,
unfortunately i'm still noticing a few problems like not being able to type at certain times also i'm not able to access the task manager!
I believe i'm still infected.
I am willing to post up my Hijack-This Log but I believe this is the wrong section.
Thank you
