Avoiding unwanted pops and clicks when editing soundwave
I recorded my kids at school as they read a play. I'm editing it--adding effects, etc. Each time I split the waveform to edit, I inadvertently put an irritating POP on the track. I think I've eliminated the amplitude issue. I'm wondering now about the sound card (it's the original) and DC offset. A friend who also has Windows XP and Cool Edit Pro, does not create the POP when he takes the same editing steps that I do--and he has an advanced sound card. Makes me wonder. Any thoughts on all this? Without all the POPS, we'll have a great radio play.
