i tried doing what it said to on the site and the next time i turned on my computer i had a registry recover error. If i remember rightly, screensaver was set to 0 and the timeout was on 600. Any use?

There are many things said on that site regarding screen savers.

    Which exactly did you try?

If it is causing a problem use System Restore. And actually you could try a System Restore to a point prior to the original problem as well.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

When i had the regedit open i changed the 0 on the ScreensaverOn to a 1 and set the timeout down to 60 from 600. As for system restore, i'ive kinda shot myself in the foot with that one. Ive had a few viruses in System Restore ove rht past 4 months and well, all the restore points had to be deleted to get rid of the antivirus (or so my antivirus said). So no system restore... I can live with not having a screensaver, its just one of those annoying things.

Just something that might help, when i had to restart my computer for a program installation i left it alone to restart. When i came back the computer had stopped on the logon screen (as i have a password) and the screensaver was showing. It seems to me it must be something to do with my user..

    Is this any help?

    Addition:

Ahhh, I just followed a few links and got this

"• The Human Interface Device Access service is running." (http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;326719)

I've been using a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse for the past couple of months, perhaps this is it? Maybe I should try and leave it with them unplugged?

    Do you have SP2?

One thing to try is Turn Off the Screen saver. Then go back and turn it on.

Trying another Admin account is worth a try.

If you are not using the "built-in" account try that.

Yeah, I've got SP2 Media Centre Edition Version 2002. I think i might try and leave the wireless stuff off for tonight and see what happens. I dont really like touching the registry that much. Ill get back to you on how things go.

Finally some good news! I left my computer on last night and I unplugged the wireless desktop and i woke up this morning to find the screensaver on and working!!! I can only guess it was the wireless stuff, cus thinking back now, it only really started when i had those.. Guess the wireless mouse must move around or something and stop the screensaver coming on. Thanks for your help
