Is it only the internet where you have "time" or waiting problems?

Have you cleaned out all your old cookies, temporary internet files, history?

    Hey ladyjane!

You may want to take a look at these KB articles first (1st one can improve your browsing experience where the 2nd one talks about the general comptuer's performance):

Internet Explorer 6.0: How and Why to Clear Your Cache
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...learcache.mspx

Restore Your Computer's Performance with Windows XP
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...storeperf.mspx

If it is just slow browsing (not the whole system) you're experiencing you might want to try:
    - an alternative browser (Firefox 2.0 - www.firefox.com) to see if it's slow as well
    - disabling any applications that might use up your bandwith (P2P downloading, etc.)

    Please send the following info:
    - Operating System
    - Service Pack
    - Antivirus Software
    - Internet Connection Type

While in IE, click on Tools, Internet Options. On the General tab, you'll see where you can delete cookies, Temporary Internet Files, and clear your browsing History cache.

I work for a Cable Company and sometimes the slow internet has to do with a RF problem to the cable modem. One way to check would be to open up command prompt and try to ping a website to test the speed and stability of your connection. To test this...

    Start -> Run ... -> cmd

When Dos prompt window opens type in "ping -t www.google.ca" and let it ping out 10-20 times. Press CTRL+C to stop the pings and see if you have any Packet Loss. Packet loss will indicate a slow connection speed.

Also are you running any 3rd party firewalls, such as ZoneAlarm?? Could possibly be a firewall conflict.

No, you will not lose all your saved passwords, however if you are logged into a site it will delete the session.
