Can't Install Monitor Driver
I am trying to install the driver for a Compaq S710 monitor after freshly reinstalling windows XP and no matter which way is up, I just can't do it. Why wont it take?

Hello, and Welcome to D-A-L.
Monitors don't usually have drivers, display adapters do.
Just what is supposed to be encompassed in/with these "drivers"? Is there something particularly special about the monitor?

When I reinstalled windows the highest color setting I could do was 4-color and everything is like greenish-blue greyscale-old school vga-looking crap. In my drivers control panel it shows that I'm missing my video controller. I just assumed I needed a driver.

You do. For the display adapter, not the monitor.
Do you know what adapter you have?
If not, download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, look under
Computer, Summary, Display,
or under Display, PCI/AGP Video. This will tell you what display adapter/chip you have.
(Video Adapter and 3D Accelerator.) Post that information.

I've got:
PCI/AGP Video: Intel Extreme Graphics
GPU: Integrated: Intel 82845G/GL/GV Graphics Controller
Is that all the info you need?

That did it. Thanks for your help!
