Screen Freeze ...

Re: Screen Freeze ...
The Vista question is very much a question of personal opinion.
Most software is compatible by now. Toshiba has the drivers (which is the most important item).
Some claim old versions of Office don't work but for everyone that says this you will find just as many if not more that contradict this.
SP1 is in beta and expected in January if not sooner.
If this issue occurs 1 out of 10 times I'd be inclined to live with it for now.
Again freezes are usually hardware and or heat.
Most software including drivers will throw errors at you rather than completely freeze up the system.

There are four bios updates for the satellite A105. These make no mention of Vista. Should I download them?

Are you familiar with flashing a BIOS?

Flashing a bios, No. Never heard that term before. I have however heard of flashing!!!!

I see that I am a Junior Member. Just what is that? Hopefully it means my problems are small. By the way, are you, jephree still on a boat somewhere off the coast of Florida? I think I talked to you before and you passed that info on to me.

Flashing a BIOS is how one updates the BIOS. At least it is the easiest and most common method.
I have not reviewed the Toshiba BIOS but in general you download the BIOS to a floppy and then boot said floppy.
The danger (risk) involved is that should you lose power during this process your BIOS will be lost. The remedy for this is only to send the laptop back to Toshiba.
In general a BIOS update is only relevant to new hardware that was developed after the original BIOS was released.
I am on land at the moment. In the Florida Keys.

If you were me, would you go ahead and install Vista at this time on my Toshiba laptop?

If I had that option yes I would.
