When I try to start a cd or dvd I get an error message.(InCDsrv.exe has
encountered a problem and needs to close.) When I try to start manually my computer goes blank, all but the back ground picture and it is frozen.
I hope someone can help.
Thank You, Mike Relue m.relue@comcast.net
Until today I could insert a CD orDVD in the drive and it would auto start
to play or dounload. Now I have the problem I mentioned earlier. My drives are part of XP so I don't use any programs such as nero.
OK, I forgot XP uses Ahead programming to run their CD/DVD burning elements.
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer. Right click on your Optical Drive(s) and choose Properties. Click the AutoPlay Tab. Choose "Prompt me each time to choose an action.
If this fails, copy/unzip the attached reg file and click on it to merge it into the registry. You may have to restart the machine for it to take affect.
Dan,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I dounloaded the REGEDIT program,
it did help but I am getting some strange things happening.I would like to
keep this dialogue going for a while longer until I try a few different cd's & dvd's. Also have you heard of the two programs REGCURE & OPTIMIZE 1.5,
if so what do you think of them? Please keep in touch, thank you Mike Relue.
The only thing (negative) I found about this program was that there are several sites listing "cracks" for it (so you don't have to pay). This tells me it's not a "well-structured/written" program.
There are several RegCleaners (FREEWARE) out there that do the same thing. I use two (and a half, sort of) myself.
However, because of the controversy regarding this issue, (registry cleaners in general) I'll leave it up to you to choose what you do. There are people who will argue to leave the registry as it is, that you gain little by removing dead/redundant keys etc. If you choose to use one, try a freeware program first before you buy, that's all.
Dear Dan,
After a couple of weeks trying different cd's & dvd's I find the fix you sent me does work, at least both drives work. One will auto start with a choice as to what do I want to do, the other will start, but goes directly to the
program. Some times one or the other won't start at all. Then I go to the icon
In my computer but the disc will not be acknowledged as being in the drive.
So when I try to start It from my computer area,I get an error that says
microsoft has to shut down when I click ok every thing goes away but the background picture. Then I have to re boot. Also I get a strange error message once in a while, which I'll try to attach.Anyway I think I will live with what I have, atleast I can start disc's.Thank You For Your Trouble
Mike Relue
Dear Dan,
Finally getting back to you, actualy I installed Nero after I started having trouble. I'll see if I can live with what I have,at least I can start CD,s & DVD,s. Also I did what you said not to do and bought a cleaner called RegCure. It is nothing but trouble,so i'm getting a refund I hope.Lets keep in touch. Thank You Mike Relue
If you have all of the CD/DVD programs (software), something you can try is to uninstall all of them, (Cntrl Pnl_Add/Remove Programs) then remove the optical drives in Device Manager.
When you reboot, the drives will be found and Windows will reallocate resources etc for them. Then you can reinstall your desired programs.
