CDs & DVDs won't run

Re: CDs & DVDs won't run
Dear Dan,
I don't know about uninstalling all the programs, that would be major. But if I did where do I find the device manager? I'll have to think about this a little longer. Also after many e-mails RegCure did confirm they would give me a refund .I can't believe this web site supports RegCure with all of it's problems.
Another problem I am having is I downloaded a Reg cleaning program that I thought was free ,but it turned out that after a scan they want me to buy the program before they will do anything. But the major problem I now have is I can't get rid of this stupid program.I even went in to the registery and deleted it and when I re-boot it is right back, please help me get rid of this
program, please.Well I'll let you go,thanks for all of your help.I've learned
more about computers since I met you than I have in the last five years of having one. Thanks Again ,Mike Relue

Device Manager: Start, Run, type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
"I can't believe this web site supports RegCure with all of it's problems."
You found this through D-A-L? (I never read the ads or sidebars on any site, including here where I work. Don't tell my boss.) ;>)
It's not really support, it's hosting the products ad for site revenue. There is no affiliation. To keep the site going it depends on donations, ad revenue, and the Moderators donating their time and knowledge. All the staff here work for free.
What is the name of the Reg cleaning program that (you) thought was free.... and can't get rid of ...?
I use RegSeeker. Very effective, and I've never had a problem with it. It creates its own backups by default, in case. (I've never used one. I just keep deleting the backups once a number of them are accumulated.) It also scans for non-essential Services. Does a good job there too.
If you grab it, unzip it to the root directory of a drive/partition as it creates its own sub-directory.

The Reg cleaner pop-up that I can't get rid of is (PC MightyMax) very annoying .
Thank You, Mike Relue

PC Mighty Max is a nasty.
First bring up task manager (hit Ctrl/Alt/Del all at the same time) and make sure you're on the Processes tab. Look for pcmm.exe and kill the process if it's running. (Right click it and "End Process".)
Click Start, Run, type in msconfig. Click the Startup tab. Uncheck any boxes which reference PC MightyMax or pcmm.exe. Close msconfig but don't restart yet.
Click Start, Run, and type in services.msc. Look for any "service" that references PC MightyMax or pcmm.exe. If you find any, right click on them and select STOP. Then right click them again and choose Properties. In the "Startup type" drop down box choose Disabled. Close services.
Restart your machine.
When you're fully booted again, another “System Configuration Utility” window will open telling you that you have used the System Configuration Utility to change the way Windows starts. Click “Exit Without Restart”
Registry editing: (CAUTION Just do what I tell you, and only what I tell you, and you'll be fine.)
Click Start, Run, type in regedit and hit Enter.
Ensure the very top line (should be "My Computer") is highlighted. Click on Edit, then Find. Type in PC MightyMax. If the box below for "Match whole string only" has a checkmark, remove it. Leave the other three checked. Click "Find Next". If it finds a key, it will be highlighted (and possibly expanded). Right click the key it finds and choose Delete. Confirm any deletions if required. The hit your F3 key to continue the search. Repeat the process until all found keys are deleted and it tells you it has finished the search with no further keys found.
Repeat the above process this time searching for PCMM. (Don't forget to go all the way to the top and highlight the very top key/line again first.)
Close regedit when finished.
Empty your recycle bin.
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer. Click on TOOLS, Folder Options. Click on VIEW.
Scroll down under Files and Folders, Hidden files and folders, and put a "checkmark" (dot) on Show hidden files and folders. Then remove the checkmark in the boxes for "Hide extensions for known file types" and "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)".
Close My Computer or Windows Explorer. Reopen My Computer or Windows Explorer. (This is to "refresh" it with the new settings.)
Go to c:\documents and settings\%your account name%\favorites and look for any links to the program. If found, delete them.
Open Control Panel, Internet Options. Under the General tab, and under "Temporary internet files" delete cookies and delete files. Under History, Clear History. Close Internet Options/Control Panel.
Go to C:\Program Files\PC MightyMax. Look for PCMM.EXE in the files listings for that directory. Right click on it. Click on Rename. Rename it to NOTPCMM.EXO.
Once name changes, and icon changes, right click on the PC MightyMax folder (containg all the files) and delete it.
Remove the program from your Startup Menu if it exists. (Start, Programs, etc. Right click and delete it.)
Empty your recycle bin.
You may at this point want to revert to your original settings NOT showing hidden files and folders/Protected system files etc. Just reverse the above steps uner TOOLS, Folder Options, VIEW etc.
If you've installed RegSeeker, use it at this point. Open it from where you unzipped it to. (Create a shortcut to it if you wish.) Click on "Clean the registry (leaving all defaults). When its done, click on "Select" (under the bottom of the main window) and Select All. Then click on Action, then Delete selected items. Click OK on the default saved file names (backups) and locations then exit.
Post back on your results, or with further questions.

Dear Dan,
Well I did what you said and it worked, so again thank you .I would be interested in sending a donation for DAL, but I would rather send a money order. If you send me an address I'll send a donation.
Thank You, Mike Relue
