I am using nero 8 to try to burn a dvd when i hit burn my cpu usage jumps to 100% but i have a 3.20 processor and 3 gigs of ram. All of my drives are DMA not pto and the dvd burner is set to master not slave... I am using a HP DVD writer 300n nero says it write speed is 2.4 should this be happening to my computer or is there a way to get a faster dvd burn 1 hour is kind of crappy?

There are several factors which govern the speed of the write. From your description, your limiting factors are the drives speed, and the medias speed. Blanks can be 2X, 4X etc.
