    Outlook Express Message

I was on a website and sent an email. The following is what appeared in the Outlook Express window:

"Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details." The "message below" under the Errors tab is:
"The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected 3-mail address was 'rad@robarnieanddawn.com'. Subject 'I Finally Know . . .', Account: 'pop.usamedia.tv, Server: 'mail.usamedia.tv', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 501,Error Number 0x800CCC79"

All I want to do is get rid of the email because every time I hit “Send/Receive” this thing pops up.

    Any ideas? Thanks

The cause of this error is due to the fact that the SMTP server requires authentication.

Check your Outlook settings, making sure that your SMTP username, password, and server are correct.
Then follow this procedure to make sure you set up Outlook to use SMTP authentication :

    1. Click "Accounts" in the "Tools" menu
    2. Click on your email account then click "Properties"
    3. Click "Servers"
    4. Make sure the "My server requires authentication" box is checked

Also, you may get this error because the server does not recognise the senders email address as being valid.
To check your email address follow this procedure :

    1. Click "Accounts" in the "Tools" menu
    2. Click on your email account then click "Properties"
    3. Click "General"
    4. Make sure the address in the "E-mail address" field is created in your account's control panel
    5. Delete messages in the "Outbox" folder and try again

I have Outlook 2002 and get the "501 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error" message when I try to use any of my distribution lists. I have been using these lists for years and the problem just suddenly started. The addresses in the lists work fine when used individually. I even created new lists with different addresses and still get the same error. The "fix it" you provided for Outlook Express doesn't work for Outlook because the features in Tools are different. Can you give me a fix for Outlook 2002?
