i have checked msconfig the ones i want to startup are ticked they are not hidden has anybody got any ides what is wrong

Is it one particular program, or more of them?

there is six programs that not startup. and my speaker icon does not show up either all that is there is macafee icon and lan icon

It looks like you have some registry glitch.
