    IE7 going offline when idle

    Hi,

I have a permanent broadband connection to my XP computer but IE7 keeps going off line when I haven't accessed the internet for a few minutes. When it disconnects, I have to click the reconnect box to go back on line again, when prompted by IE7.

Is there an internet connection timeout setting anywhere in IE7 or elsewhere in XP? I have looked, but can't find anything obvious.

I've checked the network card isn't set to turn off for power save.

I've got two other computers conected to the internet via the same router and they don't exhibit this behaviour.

    Any suggestions greatfully received.

    Cheers,

    Ray D

I've had IE7 since it came out at the beginning of the year and had no problems until recently.

What particular setting do you suggest might cause a disconnection when IE hasn't been used for a while?

Firewall settings also seem OK - I've checked them against the computers that don't play up.

    Cheers,

i haven't used IE7,but i found another answer may be useful to you.

if you use xp software to connect internet, maybe xp disconnects as default when you leave it for some time setted, which save your fee.

    try solving it as following:
    click IE tools/internet options/connect/brand dial connect/setting/brand connect/dial setting/advanced/advanced dial,cancel the selection of free time.

sorry for my english,it's for ie6,i'm not sure whether it can solve your problem.

    best wishe,
