In order to start System Restore from the Task Manager or at a Run... or Command Prompt type:

    %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Jephree, Thank you for your quick reply. I need to know if the restore is the total wipe or just the reset back in time to omit my error? I want the latter but without start menu and only RUN properties I do not how to get there. See MS825750. I went to Console Root and open COMPUTERS folder. I found anonymous ,et entries I removed the wrong stuff somehow and am locked out. I only wanted local connection not global. Any help just correcting this problem and not the whole operating system? Avie

It is a reset back to a previous date. If you want to do a complete formation/restoration than you will need to obtain a restore disk that came with your computer or a windows cd that you bought. From there insert it in the CD drive and on the start up, it will prompt you to boot from the disk. Select that option and follow instructions from there.

    Follow that step now.

Edit: Restart you computer with the disk in your computer.

Windows System Restore, OEM Factory Restore, and Windows Repair are three different things.

Follow the instructions jephree posted. This is a System Restore (back to a point in time).

Start the machine and tap the F8 key. Choose Command Prompt. Then type in what jephree posted.

Please post back if you cannot start the machine this way.

Dan, Thanks, thanks I needed you back to help me with this. Needed clarification, for sure. I am getting only a blank page when I did the system restore cmd. Some error in safe mode. It could not complete. Since you have previously recommended the sfc /scannow. Shall I try this? I messed up the networking in Component services. . I seem to have erased any connection through my adapter. When I right click on the Folder it disappears. SEE MS KB825750 I just tired to reinstall MS networking in add and remove programs, and it did not help. I also have turned on the DCOM registry from N to Y. I am going to try again, Now. What is Active Disc. I found it newly installed? Next.. With much appreciation. Avie
