You said, you uninstalled it already, but it left some registry entries?
How do you know, this is the problem with your Windows firewall not working?
As to remove registry leftovers, just run "regedit.exe", search, and remove any entries, which have either program name, or program maker name in it.
Your registry may be messed up a little, already, but just in case, backup your registry, and create Restore Point before proceeding with "regedit".
