Hi everyone, Since installing a new hard drive I can't place my pc into hibernation. The only options are Shut Down and Restart. Could anyone please help me. Thank You

have you tried ..start......settings........Control Panel ....Power Options......Hibernate and see if it's ticked

Hi brain_damage, I have tried it, but there is no (hibernation or tick box) in the power options.

did you do a fresh install of XP?

have you checked in the BIOS to see if power management is enabled?

Where do I begin to do that? Sorry about this!

what make and model is the machine?

try hitting the del button as the machine starts that should get you into the BIOS and have a look for power management

I have been into Bios and under the power management, but there was no sign of any Hibernation boxes to tick. Any further help would be greatfuly accepted. Thank You Dave

what size hard drive have you got now is it bigger than the last one?

My previous hd was 80GB and now it's 160GB.
