Hello everyone

My computer has decided not to shut down correctly. It just hangs and I have to hold the 'Start' button on the case to close it down. However, if I go into 'Safe' mode it will close down OK, also if I carry out a normal start, wait for a few moments it will also close down normally. But, if I stay working on the computer for a length of time the shut-down sequence begins, but falters and hangs at the 'Saving your personal Settings,' phase.

Anyone any ideas please?

how long has this problem been happening?

how much RAM have you got?

how many processes have you got running? (press ctrl - alt- del)

is the machine getting very warm?

In addition to Jeff's comments, shut down problems often are caused by hardware drivers. Check Device Manager for errors. Also, Easy CD/Roxio software is attributed to causing lots of shutdown problems.
