When I am playing a game something switch me to desktop every even hour.

I can't figure out what trigger this. Please help.

I've had the same problem - it's normally due to firewall or antivirus - ZA Pro has a game mode setting and I've never had the same problem using XP's firewall - I think the switch to desktop is caused by some activity within either of these programs , probably scanning or looking for updates . Best to disable the programs or use the above firewalls .

Maybe it is Zone Alarm. I installed a new version recently. If it is, is there anything I can do to stop it? I have used other versions of ZA without this problem.

Yup if running ZA pro - right click the ZA icon in the bottom right and it should give you the option for game mode - click " allow everything " or "deny everything " and minimise , don't close the window - the firewall will be active but will not swith your gaming to desktop at any point .

but how can I find out what is the cause?

Basically as I understand things - the switch to desktop is caused by the ZA anti spyware - the firewall as it scans boots everything back to the desktop - game mode is one solution - the other solution as said is to use windows firewall - both these options work . As for exactly knowing I can't say , but I've only found this as the most likely cause with running only the firewall when gaming or watching movies . I've basically ran my pc with no background service but ZA pro and the firewall seems to be most definitely the cause .

But is this new in ZA 7.0.408.000? I have not noticed it before.

It is not new but they are constantly making changes to ZA - and certainly not all are user friendly - . Do not be tempted to run without a firewall - it is too important.
