    problem with XP-Pro

    Hello everyone

I haven't been here for a while, my computer was working fine until short time ago.

I had to switch it off without the normal shut-down procedure. It was jammed up and would not close down normally.

Now when I try to restart, it goes through the mem-check, disks etc., tells me the update is OK then stops with the following message:

'Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart.'

The only problem is that there is no media to remove. Finally, another message appears: NTLDR is missing.

May I ask if anyone has a clue to why this should suddenly happen please.

Pressing Alt/Ctl/Del only restarts the cycle?

    regards

The ubiquitous jephree. Thank goodness you are ever available, and thank you for the push in the right direction.

I visited the site, carried out the instructions, but the problem was not completely solved as I had to sort out the boot.ini file as well.

However, hopefully the problem is now sorted out. Thank you jephree. Could you explain please, why the boot.ini file can become so corrupted?

    regards
