HELP with projector, can't connecto to windows

I bought a projector, TOSHIBA TDP T30. and I tried to connect to my computer without losing the display on my monitor, so I tried using S-video or the (yellow, white, red cable) but none of them work. I got two S-video port on my CPU (Sony VAIO VGC-RA840) and none of them worked. I have a ATI radeon x1800 512mb video card, I don't know what else should I first do so I can make this thing work, thank you!

the white/red/yellow sockets are they phono (RCA) if so the yellow is video and the red and white are audio outputs

Hi, I know the cables, and it is pretty easy to plug in since the colors are stated, the problem is that it won't work, the projector cannot find it.

have you tried connection throught the VGA cable?
does your video card have any setting to enable the s video or phono output?

I know this is a really old thread, but usually projectors have a vga output, so you can feed vga into them, and they will feed the signal back out to your monitor.
