    trying to install windows

    hello,

i am trying to install windows xp pro with service pack 2 on to my first computer that i have just built. my hard drive is a maxtor 200 gig and i think its ata

once i put it in it works fine but when it asks about my hard drive it says that it "does not detect a mass storage device" and it goes on. i press f6 at the begging to install my raid hd

in the bios it recognises my hd but it doesnt do it when it is setting up in the windows installer

do i need a floppy drive to do this? and would a floppy disk come with this? because i lost my box ive looked every where for it

please help me fix this thing.

Yes you need a floppy drive. You must make your own floppy from the motherboard Driver CD or the manufacturers web site.

The F6 prompt is for loading the floppy which will load the SATA/RAID drivers.

This is assuming that you have a SATA hard drive.
