Dan,
Obtained the new seagate sea tools and ran diag on both hard drives. Both OK ONLY the bigger one was overheated. Worst 78: current 86. I have 4 fans-. better look inside case and see what is there. Coudl this overheating be a data lose problem? Also service is 28 bit addressed. Is that normal for XPSp2?
Dan,
I am sending my Hd to Ontrack directly. So I am going to put mail, etc on other HD and go buy a Vista box. My sys is old and getting slow. I pray they will retrieve more than what I have gotten. and I will learn to back from you. Bless you and your helpful people.
Just want to save my Thunderbird folders and address books. How to move to my spare drive with no Operating sys install or do I put on disc?

"Hi Dan, Yes I have been out of trouble. Good to hear from you. Any chance you could find out from David what he did? www.vacomputerguy.com does advertize data recovery. Damsel in distress"
I realize you've sent the disk away, but I thought a check of where you went for data recovery was warranted. I checked the link you provided and the page is under construction. Near the top of the page there is;
"Are you the owner of this domain? Find out how to replace this page."
This leads me to suspect the possibility of the person no longer being around.
As a result, I could find nothing. Do you have a specific link from that page? A "path" of links you followed?

Sorry to hear of the latest developments. If this is a decent person he should make an effort to at least call and explain. (My personal view.)
You should make this forum/site your first stop for future problems Avie.![]()
Dan and et al,
Thanks for support. I sure do learn by trial and error. I do not prefer either one of those choices.
Ok, Harddrive may or may not go out to ontract I have been running it all the time, trying to fix the download/ update problems.
Next how to move my documents folder to D drive and remove the other contents to the one identity to the D which will be then put in my new compute with the profilefrom Favs, Foxfire, Thunderbird and some other things I can use in Vista to one user, me. I made a mess.
I have a strange Sony cd player, that has no compatible cd write program. (CR175a). I have only used cd as floppy with B's clip. I am trying to understand the Iso that I want to put on a Cd to run the Memtest86 from disc. So... I downloaded the free CDBurnerXP Pro 3. What next? No hurry, just waiting. teehee.

I've been searching for the Sony drive you mentioned, without much luck.
Google turned up CDBurnerXP Pro 4.0 which burns ISO images. (Version 3.0 is an old version.) Hopefully it will work with your drive.

Once installed, start the program and select the function to burn an ISO image. I've attached the latest CDBurnerXP Pro & the memtest ISO image.

You're welcome. I just hope it works with your Sony drive. (Odds are it will.)
