XP Not Recognising SATA drive during installation
I'm trying to install XP on a new SATA drive (seagate Barracuda 7200.7), I have pressed F6 during the setup, and tried to install the drivers, but eachtime I get an error message like "file\i386\dts\viaraid.sys caused an unexpected error (18) at line 2180 d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c."
Any ideas?

What was the source of the drivers? The motherboard manufacturer? You have the drivers on a floppy?
Is this a manufactured computer? e.g. Dell? HP? etc.
If so are you using a Recovery CD from the manufacturer or are you installing a Retail Microsoft version of XP?
-
Yes the drivers are from the motherboard manufacturer (MSI), and I'm trying to install from a retail (OEM I guess) XP disc, not a recovery disk. Yes it is a manufacturered PC (TINY), although they have stopped trading, so I no longer have a support contract with them.

Just to verify:
Was XP originally on the Tiny installed by Tiny?
If so then you are loading a different version of XP?
Are your SATA/RAID drivers on a floppy disk?
What I find unusual is d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c
First off an OEM disk is in general a disk supplied with a particular computer for a particular computer.
Next there is no reason that a D drive is in play here unless there was a Recovery partition D on the Tiny hard drive.
Have you removed the original hard drive? If not I would suggest it.

This is a brand new Hard disk, as the original crashed, so there's no Tiny image to worry about
The SATA drivers are on a floppy
The d:\xpclient.... etc, the D I guess is the CD drive letter

The D drive appears to be the DOSRAM drive as the CD drive is the E drive
