How to edit startup drivers ? (prob with agpCPQ.sys)

    Hi,

I have a problem wirh a Laptop booting real slow and scrambling audio. When booting in safe mode it lists all the drivers its loading as it boots and the one it seems to struggle with is agpCPQ.sys. Apparently its a AGP - CPU controller or Compaq AGP Bus Filter. Why this would randomly stop working right is a mystery. Maybe its a corrupt registy key? I tried a few fix/clean programs but no difference.

I was just wondering if there was a file in windows which lists all these startup drivers so maybe I could delete the call to load agpCPQ.sys.

EDIT: It's WinXP Media Crenter edition Advent 7096 Laptop

EDIT: I deleted the refering entry from the registry, still the same result. I also deleted the next two down, but no difference. I also deleted the files from sytem32/drivers.

    Anyone got a clue?

    Ok. Sorted it.
HDD controllers were set to use PIO instead of DMA. Apparently Windows changes this setting because it had probs with DMA mode.
