Hi when I try and open a file it comes up with this message:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access them.

It was working fine yesterday. I can open folders but not the file including internet explorer. Fortunately I've found another way to access the net.

If it was working OK yesterday you could try rolling back to a restore point before the problem.
Start/programs/accessories/system tools/system restore

If you are running Trend Micro, boot your system in safe mode, go to START, RUN, MSCONFIG. In the "Services" tab, find the 3 Trend Micro entries and uncheck them. Reboot your system in normal mode and see if this fixes the problem. If so, uninstall Trend Micro and reinstall it.
