    When scrolling..

Why, when scrolling up or down, does the page continue moving after letting go of the key?

the longer i hold the key the longer it carries on after letting go.

there is no delay in the initial movement, just a delay in stopping

    and here's a little video http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v7...t=P8130001.flv

    can anyone help?

    thanks
    James

That does seem a bit extreme. Note the keyboard buffer is there to record keystrokes and when you hold down a key, you are essentially pressing the the key over and over again, based on the "repeat rate" as noted in Control Panel > Keyboard.

Is it only scrolling that is affected? Is it only while using your browser? If in Notepad and you hold down a letter key, does it keep entering the letter after you release the key? Do you have a wheel mouse? If so, when you scroll with it, does it scroll in the same way?

hi, i checked the repeat rate and it doesn't seem to be that. as there is a reaction as soon as a button is pressed but it doesn't stop when released.

it doesn't have any effect in notepad or Word. and letters are typed fine.

it does seem to be only when using the browser.

i don't have a wheel mouse. but it does do it when using the page-up and page-down buttons as well as left and right

Is that Firefox? If so, see Firefox scrolls too far for ideas.

Hmmm, have you scanned for malware, just to make sure we are starting with a clean slate?

Does it do this with just a select few sites, or all sites?

In Tools > Internet Options > Advanced change the smooth scrolling option to see if it has any affect.

Are you using standard 101/102 Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard drivers as shown in Device Manager? Or some other keyboard driver?
