What operating system are you using?

Step 1: Make sure both systems are connected to the router (or your livebox)
Step 2: Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Setup Wizard
Step 3: The wizard pops up. 2 screens will go by, click next for both. If the next box says disconnected hardware was found, check ignore disconnected hardware, and click next.
Step 4: Select a connection method. Choose the second option, since your are connecting to the Internet through your livebox.
Step 5: If select your Internet connection shows up, click next.
Step 6: Now you have to give your current computer a name. (Note the second computer must have a DIFFERENT name.
Step 7: Select workgroup. Simply choose a workgroup name. If it's a home network, Microsoft prefers MSHOME. If work, choose WORKGROUP. All computers connecting to this network must have the same workgroup or file sharing won't work.
Step 8: File sharing. File sharing MUST be turned on to allow the transfer of files. Printers are also shared.
Step 9: Verify your information, then click next.
Step 10: You're almost done... If you have only run this wizard on one computer, it is preferred that you save the settings to a flash drive. You can easily re-run the wizard on the second computer with specific settings already configured. You can also manually run it again. The setup must be run on BOTH computers. Click next.
Step 11: Click finish and restart your computer if the wizard tells you to.
Step 12: If you created a Setup Disk, when you configure the second computer, on Step 10, select Use the Network Setup Disk I already have, although this is not necessary.
If you need me to explain how to transfer files, I'll happily explain if you ask.
I would like to know if this helps and if network setup is successful.
I have explained how to transfer files in the next reply. Ignore if you do not want to read it.

To add files to a easily found Shared folder, simply open My Computer and click Shared Files.
To access shared files, go to the taskbar (next to the clock) and click (or double-click) the network icon (2 computers). If you can't see it, click the arrow inside the circle to the left of the icons. Look for an icon with the name you assigned to the computer you are trying to access files from. Open it. Click Shared Files.
To share a folder without moving it to the Shared folder, right-click the folder you want to share, and click properties. Click the Sharing tab. Click the blue text "I understand the risks and want to share this folder" (or some text like that, I'm not sure) and look for some way to share it. (???> I don't know perfectly, I'm running Vista and my knowlegde comes from past experience and online search <???)
To access custom shared folders, follow how to access the standard shared folder, but insteat of clicking the shared folder, click whatever name of the shared file or folder is.
Again, please tell me if this helps. I want to be able to help people without screwing up their computers. If something bad happens, you can reply in this forum, or you can PM me. I'll try to find a solution. Thanks.
