is it possible to uninstall & re install windows update?.
I constantly have the icon telling me there are updates that need installing but they always fail. When i want to switch off i always get the "switch off without updates option"

You can turn off the Automatic service then turn it back on via right clicking My Computer then click Properties then Automatic Updates.

Have you tried the Windows Update home page as well? start > All Programs > Windows Update.
