    OS not found?

    Hi guys/gals.

Got a small problem and im very very confused by it, Had my laptop working and thought i'd get a PCI card so i could go wireless, and to cut along miserable life story short, i added the new hardware and install the drivers from the CD as you do, turned comp off as per the instructions as the card wouldnt turn on and now Laptop wont start up, It gets just past the Start up bit and then says Operating System not found??

Anyone care to help or point me in right direction?

Its a intel celeron 550mhz, 128mb ram with XP installed

Can you get into Safe Mode? Press F8 between the BIOS and Windows.

If so you might try either "Last known good configuration" or Safe Mode itself then "System Restore".

What is the make and model of the laptop?

    Its a Advent 7255DVD

No safe mode isent a option sadly, only part of the comp i can get into is the F2 settings (bios), only thing i can think of doing is re-installing XP and wipeing it.

What type of Recovery CD do you have?

Do you know if your CD will load the Recovery Console?

    If so try:

    FIXBOOT

    or

    FIXMBR

    or

    BOOTCFG

Just on further reflection that laptop BARELY meets the very minimum requirements to run XP. Unsure if this was part of the issue or not.

Don't forget the hardware and drivers you added.

This might have pushed the other hardware too far.

You might want to remove the PCI card or else try but maybe have to try again.

Also if you have an XP CD you can also load the Recovery Console from it.
