    msconfig error message

I use msconfig quite regularly to stop applications from starting up next time I switch on PC.

I removed the check mark in Start Up tab for a couple of unwanted applications to start and click tried to apply.
I am now getting a dialogue box opening telling me ...

"An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an Administrator account".

I've never seen this before and both of the accounts on the PC have adminstrator access and both are having the same message.

Confusingly despite this dialogue box telling us the service was denied the applications were not loaded next time at start up.

Nobody has nailed this on other message boards where I've googled the error so hope you can help.

    Hi,
I do have a HP printer installed, a little inkjet PSC1317.

I should say that I have been messing with my services properties in Control Panel. I'd been offline for about 8 weeks, for that reason bored with computing and for something to do (and improve speed of installed gaming ) I changed a few things to disabled from being automatic! Its unlikley then to be malware cos the PC was fine when its internet was pulled. Now back on line with a new provider.

    two things I've done.
Hooked up the printer to the PC and checkeda couple of items in the services tab of msconfig(none of which you would have thought have anything to do with problem. But its fixed, can now make changes to start up no probs and restart or carry on till next session with my commands noted.
